| Neath Castle was one of the minor Norman castles in the lordship of Glamorgan. Like the Romans before them, the Normans chose this strategic spot guarding the river crossing. The main surviving feature of the castle is the great twin-towered gatehouse. |

| Gnoll Country Park Civic Centre , Neath , West Glamordan SA11 3 QZ - Wales UK Gnoll Country Park is a delightful country park based on an 18th Century landscaped garden. Close to Neath town centre , it featuresltakes , cascades , a grotto children's play area , adventure playground and a Visitor interpretation Centre. The parks forest footpaths link to the Mosshouse Reservoir and Cefn Morfudd historical viewpoints. From the A465 at Neath follow B4434 signs for Tonna and then the brown signs of Gnoll Park Road. The main park can be enjoyed by all , but the footpaths to the Mosshouse are a bit more strenuous. |

| Neath Abbey Neath , West Glamorgan SA10 - Wales Uk Neath Abbey dates from the year 1130 and is an extraordinary complex of medieval monastic ruins , the substantial remains of a grand Tudor residence , and fragments of 18th Century industrial copper furnaces. Cistercian monks enjoyed a quiet existence for over 400 years here. The walls of their Abbey have remained standing to a good height. One remarkable chamber of the monastery has survived almost intact. | Victoria Gardens Neath , West Glamorgan SA11 1HW - Wales UK Victoria Gardens is the jewel in the crown of Neath town centre. It has the classic landscaping of the Victorian urban park. It was created in 1897 to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee , with the typical original features of the omate bandstand. It also includes a gorsedd circle. This is a Bardic stone circle in which a gatherine of bards ( or Welsh poets ) takes place within. The Park has two acres of lawns , paths and ornamental flowerbeds , and features concerts during the summer months. Access is from Neath town centre. It is open all year , free of charge |
