| Roger Thomas is a painter who specializes in painting portraits of celebrities for charity. He began his life in the industrial rugby town of Llanelli. His family soon moved to Swansea , where he joined the College of Art , gaining City and Guilds of London - Illustration in 1977. A year later he was accepted as a Diploma member of the Society of Industrial Artists and Designers. After a few years as a Technical illustrator he came to his first crossroads , and became the head of an Oxfordshire Studio at the age of 23. Technical Illustrator at the Devon firm of Centrax - Heathfield division. Devon called to his soul and after a few years he branched out as a self - employed artist. Seeking a more varied portfolio. The Herald Express employed him to produce all their advertising graphics , and the "Rogers Rangers" and "Weeks of War" columns followed. He has had over 1000 illustrations in National and International Newsprint , over 600,000 words published , is seven times a published poet , illustrated many books annd had a recent solo Art Exibition in Paignton. Watercolor Portraits have been sent as far as Australia and America. His recent monthly publications include Devon Life , Rare Books Magazine , All At Sea , Pembrokeshire Life , and the National Retired series. Roger is currently working on Club Portraits for Manchester United , Boston Wanderers , Crystal Palace , Glamorgan CCC , Yorkshire CCC , and Cardiff R.F.U. He is also working on twelve landscapes for St. Austell Breweries and has many Charity fundraising websites , including one for National Seahorse Center , and is in discussion with the Church of England to produce a set of illustrations of the Diocese of Exeter Churches. He has just completed Portraits of Hollywood actor Dale Robertson and singers Russell Watson and Katherine Jenkins. Other singers he is in discussion with are Olivia Newton John and Emma Bunton. His initials are RT , perhaps his art was foretold in his Celtic genes. |
